The Dragons have confirmed that Jaydn Su’A is set to return before the end of the regular season, with the club delivering a positive prognosis following the backrower’s knee injury.

Su’A was forced from the field during the recent clash against the Cowboys and has since been diagnosed with a grade 2 medial ligament injury. While it initially raised fears of a longer layoff, the club has now revealed the 26-year-old won’t require surgery and is expected to be available for selection in Round 25.

The update will come as welcome relief to Dragons fans, with Su’A having been a consistent and aggressive presence on the edge throughout 2025.

Mixed news for Dragons on injury front

While Su’A’s situation is encouraging, the Dragons weren’t so fortunate with three other players. Young prop Toby Couchman will undergo shoulder stabilisation surgery and has been ruled out for the remainder of the year.

Sione Finau, who dislocated his shoulder in Round 20 against the Bulldogs, will also go under the knife and won’t return in 2025. Meanwhile, Nick Tsougranis will have syndesmosis repair surgery after suffering a high-grade ankle injury in the NSW Cup. His timeline for return remains unclear.

Despite the setbacks, Su’A’s expected return adds a crucial boost to the Dragons’ back row as the club tries to finish the season on a high.
