Leas-Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly is extending a welcome to adults from all walks of life to a Health and Wellbeing Roadshow for the community this Thursday at ATU Donegal Letterkenny campus.
Taking place from 6pm-9pm on 20th November, this free evening for over 18s is an opportunity to find information on local supports, meet the people behind local organisations and attend educational workshops covering addiction supports, financial safety, health and wellbeing, and gambling harm prevention.
The event has been organised in partnership with Sharon Ferguson Mental Health & Wellbeing Project Officer ATU Donegal.
Cllr Kelly said: “I am proud to partner ATU Donegal in hosting this event. I have been working closely with Sharon over the past few years, and Mental Health is something very close to both our hearts.
“We had a conversation prior to the 2024 election about having an event of this kind where we would bring the community together and provide mental health awareness for not only people suffering with mental health challenges but also for the wider community to be informed.
“Our aim is to provide this information throughout the wider Donegal community in an environment which is relaxed and destigmatising.”
Workshops on the evening are educational and will offer signposting to services within our communities to highlight supports available especially as we come into the Christmas period.
Workshop 1: Addiction Services & Supports – James Devenney, Letterkenny CDP
Workshop 2: Financial Safety – Sgt Fergus McGroary
Workshop 3: Health & Wellbeing – Kevin Mills
Workshop 4: Gambling Harm & Prevention – Declan Cregan
Information stands will be available from Pieta, Cara House, Letterkenny CDP, the Donegal Wellness Cafe and more.
Cllr Kelly adds: “Each and every individual will be welcomed to this event with open arms and we hope you can all join us on the evening.”
Tea/coffee will be available at registration from 6pm with a chance to visit a host of information stands before the evening is kicked off with a welcome and opening address by Sharon Ferguson, ATU Donegal Mental Health & Wellbeing Project Officer, alongside Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly, Leas-Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council.
