Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell held out hope earlier this week that star tight end Sam LaPorta could return from a back injury that landed him on injured reserve.
However, based on Friday’s comments, it’s clear that hope is all but gone after LaPorta underwent a back procedure.
“So look, Sam did have a procedure,” Campbell said. “And he’s gonna be out for a while. A while. I think we would be fortunate to have a chance to get him back for the rest of the season at some point. I think that’s very, very slim. Good news is the procedure went really well, long term.”
