Hugh Jackman has made a major public show of affection for his new partner, Sutton Foster, posting a gushing tribute to the Broadway star just weeks after their red carpet debut.
The 57-year-old Aussie actor took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a video of Foster, 50, performing at New York’s famed Café Carlyle during the holiday season.
“@suttonlenore performing during the holidays at @cafecarlyle … now that’s an iconic NYC night! And, truly magical,” Jackman wrote, including a short clip of the Tony Award winner waving to him from the stage.
The post marks a significant step forward for the theatre-loving pair, who were first rumoured to be dating in late 2023 but only went public in January 2025.
But not everyone was thrilled for the loved-up duo.
“Reminiscent of the praise you always heaped on Deb,” one user wrote of Hugh’s gushing caption – a sentiment that attracted more than 500 likes at the time of writing.
“That’s embarrassing, Hugh! We used to think you were cool. What a disappointment,” another commented, while a third mentioned how the couple’s children, Oscar and Ava, might feel.
“Your poor children. Did you ever think for one second how this what make them or their mother feel??” one follower wrote.
“TOO SOON. You made promises to Deb and we all believed you,” another added.
“We all thought, finally in Hollywood ‘here is a man who is honouring the commitments he made’. Right up until a younger woman comes along, eh Hugh?”
One fan, who praised Jackman’s work, suggested the timing of his Sutton-centric post may not have been ideal from a PR standpoint.
“Hugh, I say this with respect and admiration for your incredible career… From a PR perspective, it might have been stronger to share certain news after your movie release,” they wrote.
But plenty of others were thrilled to see the couple go public.
“@thehughjackman @suttonlenore I admire how supportive you both are of each other’s work! #couplegoals,” one admirer wrote.”BTW when are the two of you gonna perform together?!?”
“Adorable! Both of you!” another said, while a third simply added: “Two icons.”
On 26 October, 2025, Hugh and Sutton made their red carpet debut at the premiere of Jackman’s latest film, Song Song Blue, at AFI Fest in Los Angeles.
Days earlier, they were spotted together at Richard Marx’s After Hours Confession performance in New York City.
Jackman and Foster first crossed paths in 2021 while starring together in The Music Man. Both were married at the time.
It’s widely understood that their relationship contributed to the end of the Wolverine star’s nearly 30-year marriage to Australian actress Deborra-Lee Furness, 69, which formally concluded in September 2023.
Sources close to Furness previously claimed she “had suspicions” about the pair and felt “vindicated” when paparazzi images confirmed the romance.
The Real Macaw star filed for divorce in May, later telling the Daily Mail that her “heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.”
