EastEnders’ Freddie Slater and Anna Knight set off travelling next week, after they wave goodbye to their nearest and dearest. But will Anna be able to bring her family together before she leaves them behind?
It wasn’t that long ago that Freddie agreed to join Anna on her brave adventure, but the duo look cosier than ever at Walford’s Christmas lights switch-on. With a warming drink in hand, Freddie grasps Anna’s hand while also wrapping his arm around his cousin Lily.
“Freddie and Anna have had plenty of ups and downs since they first met each other,” our source reminds us, “so it’s lovely to see a smile on their faces. And especially when Ian is mooching about being snarky about the fact that Peacock Palace won sponsorship rights for the whole thing…”
The next day, Anna tasks herself with repairing the fractured relationship between Kojo, Gina and Harry. A woman on a mission, Anna visits the Mitchell family home, where she speaks to sofa-bound Harry.

Will she be able to make any meaningful progress with him – or will Harry have more pressing issues on his mind? After her trip to No.1, Anna shares a heartfelt conversation with her dad about forgiveness.
“Anna and George have always had a close relationship,” says our insider. “There have been times when Anna’s support for Cindy put pressure on her relationship with George, not to mention Gina, but in the end, they’ve always had each other’s back.
“Remember when Anna had her drink spiked while out at Peggy’s? As soon as she felt strong enough to tell George everything, he was by Anna’s side all the way. So, it’s a poignant scene when the dad and daughter share an honest chat before Anna takes off.”

Meanwhile, the Slater family bid their own goodbye to Freddie, which can’t be easy given how close they’ve all become since the cheeky chap returned to Walford more than three years ago.
As Freddie and Anna begin their new life together, how will their loved ones get on without them? And will we ever see their friendly faces back on the Square?
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
