CBs Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon are officially active. It’ll be Johnson’s second game of the season after he injured his groin in Week 2. Gordon has played in only two games this season after missing the start of the season with a hamstring injury and then spending time on IR with a calf injury.
We’ll see what defensive coordinator Dennis Allen does with the slot corner position, which C.J. Gardner-Johnson has manned for the past month. With the Bears down linebackers, he could look to get both on the field in certain packages. Johnson should start opposite Nahshon Wright.
It’ll likely be D’Marco Jackson and Amen Ogbongbemiga at linebacker, which will be Jackson’s second career start — he had 15 tackles against the Steelers. Ogbongbemiga, who stepped in when Hyppolite got hurt, will make his third career start and first since 2021. He also had 15 tackles.
Linebacker and Ex-Lion Jalen Reeves-Maybin, called up from the practice squad Thursday, is active and provides depth at linebacker and on special teams. Offensive lineman Jordan McFadden is also active after getting elevated from the practice squad.
Left tackle Theo Benedet, who missed last week with a quad injury, is active, but it could be rookie Ozzy Trapilo getting the start at left tackle. Whoever doesn’t get the nod will be the sixth offensive lineman for those formations.
