Much like last season, Jack Miller is looking to land a new contract in MotoGP, as he risks falling off the grid in 2025.

The Aussie could well have seen his MotoGP career come to an end in 2024, after his disappointing spell at KTM concluded with his exit. However, Pramac ‘saved’ Miller from leaving the premier class, as they offered him a one-year deal for 2025.

Becoming Yamaha’s satellite team after winning the 2024 title with Jorge Martin as a Ducati outfit, Miller has been vital for Pramac behind the scenes. His technical feedback has been key in helping to develop the new V4 bike, which Yamaha hope to introduce come 2026.

With Toprak Razgatlioglu joining Pramac next season, the Aussie is left battling Miguel Oliveira for the second seat at the Tuscany-based outfit. Moto2 rider Diogo Moreira has also been linked, as well as his title rival Manu Gonzalez.

Miller is the second-best Yamaha rider heading into the summer break, sitting 14th in the standings with 52 points. He is using the break in the season to keep himself sharp.

Pramac’s 2026 rider decision is more ‘complex’ as Gonzalez and Moreira are now under consideration to be Razgatlioglu’s teammate.

Yamaha want to assess Miller and Oliveira’s performances in Austria and Hungary, as well as Brno, to help with their decision. The former put more points on the board for Pramac with P10, while the latter languished in 17th.

During the off-season, Miller will compete in the Suzuka 8 Hour race for Yamaha. He will be joined by fellow MotoGP rider Johann Zarco, who will be looking to go back-to-back in 2025 after winning the event last year with Honda.

Speaking with GPOne ahead of the race, Miller believes that his MotoGP colleagues should race in the Suzuka 8 Hour at least once. In fact, he went as far to say that they should be contractually obliged to do so: “I think [it] should be included in the contracts.”

Miller and Zarco were set to be joined by other MotoGP riders for the Suzuka 8 Hour race. However, Luca Marini crashed during training for the event and subsequently had to withdraw from the race.

Several competitors have also seemed to express a desire to compete in the race. Francesco Bagnaia would be interested, but Luigi Dall’Igna may want to reconsider that, given Marini’s injuries.

Zarco thinks Miller could ‘score points’ with Yamaha if he has a good race at Suzuka. It could be the key to landing a new contract with Pramac for 2026.

It has even been rumoured that Miller could replace Alex Rins at the factory Yamaha team. The Spaniard has concerns about his future as he struggles to find consistent results since his leg injury in 2023.
