Former Australian Test batsman Greg Blewett has suffered a suspected ruptured Achilles in his first game of cricket in 10 years.
The 54-year-old was signed up by Melbourne’s Berwick Springs for a T20 match on Sunday — but his appearance ended in disaster.
Blewett did not face a single ball before he went down.

“Hey folks. Came out of retirement today, haven’t played for 10 years. How did it go? Not great,” Blewett said as he showed off his moon boot.
“So that’s the result and I’m getting a scan tomorrow, I’m thinking ruptured Achilles. So yeah, no good.
“Anyway I’m sure the recovery’s going to be a pain in the arse but that is the update from Melbourne.
“Flying home tomorrow so not the best news but anyway, life goes on and I will get stuck into my rehab.
“I’m going to be a slow and sore boy for a little bit.”
Blewett is due to join Channel 7’s commentary team for the Ashes and Big Bash this summer.
Speaking before his comeback, Blewett said the opportunity to play for Berwick Springs came from “a phone call out of the blue”.
“It’s been a while since I’ve played but I thought why not,” he said.
He entered the day with the motto of “keep it simple, stupid”.
“See ball, hit ball,” Blewett said.
But his advice to himself served as a warning of what was to come.
“It’s bloody cold so I’m going to make sure I have to get warm and get ready to go,” he said.
Blewett joked he “might have 40 or 50” in him and was ready to rip out his famous pull shot on any short balls.
