After a brilliant win for Celtic against Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday night, Martin O’Neill’s side topped their week off by putting another three points on the board in the Premiership.
Before the game, Celtic’s social media account put a celebratory post up about St Andrew’s Day, and their allies in the Basque Country did the same.
Athletic Club have a brilliant relationship with Celtic, and their latest post on the champions of Scotland proved that further.

Athletic Club, not only noted their ‘super proud’ connection with Celtic, but also Dundee and Hibernian’s one-club player, Joelle Murray.
🏴 #Happy St. Andrew’s Day to you all,’ wrote Athletic Club on social media. ‘From our 1923 friendlies against @DundeeFC, to recent matches against @CelticFC, and our 2025 One Club Woman, @HibernianFC’s incredible @JLMurray17, at Athletic Club, we’re super proud of all our Scottish connections.
‘Wishing everyone a great #StAndrewsDay!’
For those Celtic supporters who don’t know, there is a Hoops Bilbao-based supporters club called Bilbao Bhoys CSC.
In 2023, Athletic’s official website noted how ‘a large group of Celtic FC supporters gather in Bilbao’s Plaza Nueva to watch the Hoops’ matches together.’
They certainly will be loving the winning feeling O’Neill has brought to proceedings, after a pretty poor start under Brendan Rodgers.
In the words of Athletic, they are hoping to ‘strengthen the ties between two clubs that mean so much to their lives and, in their words, represent “much more than football.’
