Dame Judi Dench has revealed how she’s doing amid her health battle.
The acting icon, 90, who is known for her roles in films including the James Bond franchise and Shakespeare in Love, was diagnosed with advanced macular degeneration (AMD) in 2012. It typically causes vision loss.
“I can’t see anymore,” she said during an interview with Sir Ian McKellen, 86, on ITV News.

“I can’t recognise anybody now… I can’t see the television. I can’t see to read,” she said when asked why we don’t see her much on screen and camera anymore.
The star said she could see McKellen’s “outline” as he sat next to her. 
She previously revealed she finds it difficult to read scripts and learn lines for her acting career.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, the acclaimed Oscar-winner previously said: “It has become impossible.”
“And because I have a photographic memory, I need to find a machine that not only teaches me my lines but also tells me where they appear on the page.”

He told Variety the experience has been “devastating” in a candid interview last month.
“Because I lost my right eye and my left eye’s not so good, the last 15 months have been challenging for me because I haven’t been able to see anything, watch anything, read anything,” he said.
But he admitted he has “hope” science and medical advancements may be able to help him in future.
