Higher-earning professionals living closer to the city centre – and their places of work – are more likely to work from home, while people further out are likely to be tied more closely to a central office, new analysis of Melbourne transport and earnings data by consultancy Macroplan shows.
Over half of workers living in central Melbourne and the inner south-eastern municipalities of Yarra, Stonnington, Port Phillip and Bayside work from home at least once a week – a greater proportion than workers in middle-ring or outer suburbs, the analysis shows.
