An Armenian-origin MMA fighter and coach, Tigran Ohanesyan, has been detained in Russia’s Tula oblast, APA’s Moscow bureau reports, citing local Telegram channels.
It has been revealed that he was the leader of a criminal group.
Under the leadership of the 36-year-old Ohanesyan, a gang consisting of “fake” security officers committed robberies and demanded money.
According to preliminary information, the MMA fighter created a gang consisting of five of his students, all of whom were from South Caucasus countries. The gang intimidated residents of Shchyokino and Tula. They presented themselves as representatives of law enforcement structures and demanded between 500,000 and 800,000 rubles from their victims.
The gang members have been detained, and criminal cases have been opened against them on charges of “robbery” and “extortion.”
