It’s fair to say 2025 has been a big year for mushrooms — and not in a good way.

But the ABC Science team is here to show you that there’s much more to fungi than their toxins.

While you might not think about mushrooms beyond the weekly grocery shop, or on the news, fungi are an important part of our ecosystem, and researchers say there’s still much more to learn about them.
