A 17-year-old boy has been charged after he allegedly stormed a Melbourne home armed with a machete early this morning.
Two males entered a home in Royston Street, Viewbank in the city’s north-east through a back door about 6.40am.
One allegedly threatened two elderly residents with a machete, before the pair stole two cars.
Officers found the Hyundai allegedly dumped on nearby Martin’s Lane.
The Kia Sorrento was seen allegedly speeding through Lower Plenty.
Police used a tyre deflation device on Rosehill Road before launching a chase after the car failed to stop.
The Kia allegedly collided with another car near the corner of Lower Plenty Road and Graham Road.
The driver of that vehicle was taken to hospital with a minor injury.
Police arrested the teen and seized a machete.
A 17-year-old was charged with home invasion, theft of a motor vehicle, possess prohibited weapon and other driving offences.
He was remanded to appear before a children’s court today.
The collision is being investigated by detectives.
