Heading into the home stretch of the NFL season, the New England Patriots and New York Giants are going in different directions.
The Patriots are in the middle of a resurgent season, as they take an NFL-best 10-2 record into the game on Monday night. Sophomore quarterback Drake Maye has taken the leap this year, making a legitimate case to win the 2025 NFL MVP award, as he has the Patriots in the driver’s seat to win the AFC East.
A big reason for New England’s success is head coach Mike Vrabel. The former Tennessee Titans coach has made a huge difference in his first year as the Patriots’ head coach, getting the Patriots back to the glory days of leading the AFC, making him a favorite to win the Coach of the Year award.
Meanwhile, the Giants are in the middle of another lost season and are facing big changes in the offseason. New York fired head coach Brian Daboll a few weeks ago, and they fired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen last week as the defense has blown many leads this year.
On the bright side for the Giants, Jaxson Dart is back after missing the last two games with a concussion. The rookie was a bright spot for the Giants before his injury, proving that he was the right pick in the first round in April and has a chance to be a franchise quarterback in this league.
While this game features two teams with an eight-win difference in their record, Maye vs. Dart is a battle of two young quarterbacks with bright futures in the league.

End of the third quarter: Patriots 30, Giants 7
10:19 p.m.: Across midfield, Tyrone Tracy Jr. takes a carry a few yards for a first down. The Giants are across the 30, looking to add onto the lead.
10:12 p.m.: New England can’t find the end zone, and Borragales can’t add onto the lead.
He misses a 45-yarder and the score stays 30-7.
10:10 p.m.: The Patriots go for it on 4th & 6 and add insult to injury.
Maye connects with Diggs over the middle of the field for a first down, and New England is inside the 30.
10:06 p.m.: On the first third down he faces, Maye scrambles left and goes seven yards for a first down.
10:01 p.m.: The Giants come up with nothing on fourth down. Having to go for it on 4th & 6, Dart tries finding Johnson but it comes up incomplete.
Maye and the Patriots take over for their first drive of the half.
9:59 p.m.: Johnson has been Dart’s favorite target tonight, and he has a big reception on the first drive of the half.
Dart lobs one up to the tight end and No. 84 comes down with it on an 18-yard completion. The Giants are across midfield.
9:56 p.m.: The second half is underway in Foxboro.
Dart and the Giants offense, down 23, have the ball.
Halftime: Patriots 30, Giants 7
9:43 p.m. FIELD GOAL: Maye leads a four-play, 67-yard drive to set up a Borragales field goal as the teams go to the locker room.
Through 30, it’s all Patriots. Maye has 199 yards and two touchdowns as New England is 30 minutes away from being 11-2.
9:40 p.m.: New England is back in Giants territory. Maye finds Rhamondre Stevenson out of the backfield, and the running back has tons of space, bringing it to the New York 19 after a 36-yard gain.
9:38 p.m.: The Giants can’t move the ball down 20, and have to punt it back to New England.
Maye and co. have just over a minute to work with, looking to extend the lead.
Patriots 27, Giants 7
9:33 p.m. FIELD GOAL: On 3rd & 5, Maye and Henry are unable to connect.
Though, Borragales comes in to hit a 30-yarder, and the Patriots lead is 20.
9:25 p.m.: This night keeps getting worse for the Giants.
On the kickoff return, Gunnar Olzewski gets rocked by Ellis — the same player who hit Dart — and he fumbles. New England recovers and has the ball near the red zone.

9:22 p.m. TOUCHDOWN: New England quickly drives down the field and the lead is back to 17 after a Drake Maye dime.
On 3rd & 8, Maye finds Kyle Williams in the end zone for a 33-yard score. It’s Maye’s second touchdown of the night.

New England takes a 24-7 lead.
9:14 p.m.: On 3rd & 10, Dart tries finding Johnson in the end zone, but the pass falls incomplete. Though, it gets worse.
New York sneds out the field goal unit, and Younghoe Koo can’t add anything on for the Giants. He gets his foot stuck while following through for the kick and it turns into a disaster.

New England takes back over up 17-7.
9:11 p.m.: New York is driving again after a big Devin Singletary run. The back takes it 13 yards down to the New England 29.
9:05 p.m.: On 3rd & 1, Maye looks to scramble for the first down, but he is brought down by rookie Abdul Carter.
Carter missed the opening drives for what was called a “coach’s decision,” but he comes up big here with his first career sack.
New York has the ball back, trailing by 10.
Patriots 17, Giants 7
8:58 p.m. TOUCHDOWN: The Giants are on the board.
Right outside the 20, Dart hits Slayton, who is able to make defenders miss and roll into the end zone. It’s a 30-yard score.

New York cuts into the deficit,
8:56 p.m.: Desperately needing a score, Dart throws one up to Theo Johnson down the right sideline, and the tight end isnt able to hold on. But, an unnecessary roughness penalty moves the ball 15 yards.
End of the first quarter: Patriots 17, Giants 0
8:51 p.m.: At the end of one, it’s all Patriots. One offensive touchdown and a punt return touchdown provided the separation, but New England is the far better team after 15 minutes.

8:46 p.m. TOUCHDOWN: The Patriots make it 17-0.
Maye throws a fade up to Kayshon Boutte, who brings it down for a three-yard score. It’s Boutte’s sixth of the season.

It’s a blowout early on.
8:45 p.m.: New England is past midfield again, and now, they’re past the 10.
Maye connects deep with Hunter Henry for a 36-yard completion down to the New York three.
8:40 p.m.: On 3rd & 16, the Giants can’t convert, and they punt again.
New England has the ball back, with a chance to break the game open early.
8:38 p.m.: Dart rolls out on second down and almost makes it to the line-to-gain, and gets absolutely rocked by the Patriots’ Christian Elliss.

8:31 p.m. TOUCHDOWN: On 3rd & 9, Dart hits Wandale Robinson for no gain. The Giants punt, and it’s Marcus Jones back to return.
Jones fields the punt at the New England six and takes it 94 yards all the way to the house, breaking the tackle of the Giants punter on the way to the end zone.

8:28 p.m.: Dart has his first big completion of the night, going to Darius Slayton for 11 yards and a first down.

8:23 p.m. FIELD GOAL: On 3rd & goal, Maye tries finding Diggs in the back of the end zone, but it comes up incomplete.
Andy Borregales comes on to make a 22-yard field goal and it’s 3-0.
8:21 p.m.: The Patriots are inside the 10 after a Maye connection with Hunter Henry on 3rd & 3. New England is looking to find pay dirt.
8:19 p.m.: On 2nd & 10, Maye connects with Stefon Diggs over the middle of the field, and Diggs takes it for a first down. New England is inside the 30.
