Former Partizan player Sladjan Stojkovic stated that Zeljko Obradovic will address the public on Tuesday regarding the current situation surrounding his resignation.
Stojkovic appeared on the podcast “Super Indirektno,” where the main topic was the burning issue — Zeljko Obradovic’s resignation as Partizan’s head coach.
Having worn the black-and-white jersey in the famous 1992 season, the year after winning the EuroLeague title, Stojkovic was naturally asked to comment on such a sensitive matter.
“I dont think it’s final yet,” the former shooter said about Obradovic’s resignation, adding:
“That’s good for all of us who support Partizan. The situation is still unfolding, those are the pieces of information I have, and we expect tomorrow (Tuesday) for Zeljko to probably speak.”
He was then asked how reliable his information is.
“Well, it’s reliable (laughs). Reliable, but I can’t talk about it. I think a lot will be known tomorrow, and a lot will be resolved,” the former Obradovic player added.
Partizan’s first game without Obradovic will be played at home against Bayern on Thursday, and some fans have already hinted at possible chaos.
“Fan reaction against Bayern? First I want to see who will be on the bench. It doesn’t even have to be anyone, that’s for sure. But if Zeljko isn’t there… The only solution that could calm things down for Partizan and the fans might be Dule Vujosevic, hypothetically, or Sale Djordjevic, who hit that legendary three, and to continue the line after Zeljko Obradovic. That’s just what I think and what the fans would most easily accept after Zeljko, but if Zeljko says he won’t… We hope he says something tomorrow. I think only Sale or Dule could soften this situation,” Stojkovic emphasized.
Stojkovic spent one season playing under Obradovic in the black-and-white jersey and reflected on that period.
“I’m a former Partizan player and I would love most of all for Zeljko to stay. This love from the fans, the crowd waiting at the airport — I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This situation is not normal, this is Zeljko Obradovic — there is only one. There aren’t ten of him. What’s wrong with wanting Zeljko to stay?” he concluded.
