The defenceman has agreed to a three-year extension with an average annual value of $17.25 million, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Wednesday.

The two sides were scheduled to go to arbitration Wednesday.

Friedman reported on Monday that Samberg set his value in arbitration at $6 million while the Jets settled on $2.5 million.

Samberg enjoyed a breakout campaign last season in Winnipeg, scoring a career-high six goals and 20 points while logging just over 21 minutes of ice time a night, nearly six minutes more than his previous best.

The 26-year-old blue-liner added another three helpers during the 2024-25 post-season while averaging over 24 minutes.

The six-foot-four, 216-pound Samberg was selected in the second round, 43rd overall in the 2017 draft by the Jets.Â
