Coronation Street has aired another Becky Swain twist tonight as Lisa tried to investigate the attack on DI Costello. Tonight’s episode began with Lisa telling Becky that the police believe a man nicknamed ‘Soap’ (aka Daz, aka Darren) might be responsible. Becky made out like she had no idea who he is, but the next scene she featured in saw the two of them meeting up.

She warned him that the police were looking for him before he handed Costello’s phones over to her (personal and burner). She had a go at him for not keeping the phone off, as it could be tracked.

Sure enough, sirens soon sounded and the two scarpered.

Back at the station, Kit Green woke up an exhausted Lisa to tell her that Soap managed to escape them, and she wondered if he was getting inside help.

He sent her home to get some rest as she was “completely frazzled”, while Becky was trying to get into his phone. She managed to hide it just in time, but there was another worry for the villain as Lisa revealed that Costello was about to be brought out of his coma.

Worried the truth could be revealed, Becky snuck away to the hospital. She grabbed a syringe, with the intent of killing him… just as Lisa walked in.

Once again, Becky quickly managed to hide what she was doing and made out like she just wanted to visit her old mentor.

As his eyes started to flicker and he started to wake up, Lisa ordered Becky out.

Fearing her days were numbered, Becky packed her bags to do a runner, but had another lucky escape when Lisa phoned up and revealed that Costello is unable to speak. The police later found Soap and brought him in for questioning, but he gave the authorities nothing.

Elsewhere in the episode, Carla Conner and Kit planned to “step up” their plans to catch Becky out. She returned home and stated that she was moving back in as she was sick of the hotel room (forcing Lisa out of their room to share with daughter Betsy), but really it was to spy on Becky.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
