Former Project star Georgie Tunny’s next move has been confirmed as she scores a major newsreading gig following the departure of a popular presenter.
Veteran newsreader Chris Bath, 58, announced in October that she was leaving the network after a decade which insiders suggested was part of Network 10’s cost-cutting measures.
Tunny, 34, will take over as the host of Channel 10’s weekend bulletin for 2026 after Bath officially finishes up later in December.
She will also continue her work as a reporter for current affairs show 10News+ which replaced The Project, a program Tunny was a permanent member of from August 2022 until its cancellation in June 2025.
Channel 10 said Tunny’s extensive experience would be a huge addition to 10 News.
“Her breadth of experience across The Project, ABC, Flash, Fox Sports and national radio has seen her bring intelligence, authenticity and heart to breaking news stories, major sporting moments and some of the biggest entertainment stories around the globe,” Channel Ten said in a statement. Â
“From 2026, Georgie will bring that same depth, curiosity and editorial expertise to 10 News every weekend, leading the bulletin as it continues to deliver trusted news and insightful storytelling to Australians nationwide.”
Paramount Australia’s vice president of news Martin White said Channel 10 was “lucky” to have Tunny onboard.
“Georgie is a great journo and presenter, and we’re lucky to have her at 10 News,” he said.
“She’ll do a brilliant job, helping us break down the big stories of the day for Australians every Saturday and Sunday, with her trademark warmth and down-to-earth demeanour.”
Tunny confirmed her career move on Instagram on Wednesday.
“Bit of news (see what I’ve done there?). Excited to announce I’ll be Network Ten’s National Weekend Bulletin Host. Just call me Anchorman (but don’t),” she said.
She told the Daily Telegraph her appointment was a “pinch-me” moment.
“It is definitely a role that younger me would have pinched myself,” she said.
“When I was growing up, that was literally the most far off thing that I could possibly think about. Now to actually be here, it is like: ‘Oh my god’.’
“I’m not exactly a typical newsreader, I would say. I do everything with a lot of heart. So, I feel like there is an opportunity for there to be not too much personality, but maybe slightly more personality.”
