BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men’s basketball team took a 58-80 loss against Oregon State in Corvallis, OR. Gus Yalden led the Catamounts in scoring with 16 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Oregon State jumped out to a 9-4 lead at the 15:52 mark, despite Sean Blake converting a fadeaway mid-range jumper for Vermont.
Oregon State continued its dominant start, leading 24-8.
Ben Johnson got a corner three to go, but Vermont still trailed 27-13 at the eight-minute media timeout.
Oregon State extended its lead 35-18 to the 3:16 mark as Ben Johnson knocked down another three.
Despite David Simon’s back-to-back paint baskets, Vermont still went into halftime trailing 42-24.
Vermont and Oregon State traded baskets to start the second half, and the Catamounts were still down 18 with 15:01 remaining.
The Catamounts began a slow comeback as Ben Johnson hit multiple threes, bringing the deficit to 15 as Vermont trailed 66-51 at the 8-minute media timeout.

Leading the Catamounts, Gus Yalden recorded 16 points, going 7-16 from the field. Yalden also grabbed three rebounds.
Ben Johnson (12) was the only other Catamount in double figures.
Barnett secured a team-high seven rebounds.
Sean Blake and TJ Hurley each contributed a team-high three assists.
Vermont outrebounded Oregon State 33 to 31.
The Catamounts had 28 points off the bench.
