Gayle King shared a hilarious anecdote about Barely Famous star Sara Foster at the 2025 Footwear News Achievement Awards (FNAA) in New York City on Wednesday. Ahead of presenting Sara and her sister Erin Foster the Launch of the Year Award for their shoe launch with Favorite Daughter, King told a story of Sara interrupting her daughter’s tennis practice to Facetime one major star, and we can’t stop laughing.
While backstage before the awards, Sara met tennis icon Coco Gauff, who was at FNAA to receive the Style Influencer of the Year Ward. She immediately begged the three-time Grand Slam winner to Facetime her daughter, who plays tennis. “She says to Coco, ‘Could I just Facetime my daughter? Would you talk to my daughter?’” King told the audience. “So, she Facetimes her daughter. Her daughter is on the tennis court, [and] she goes, ‘Get her off the tennis court now!’”

Despite being in a rush, Coco took the time to say hi to Sara’s daughter, which King praised. “She’s a very nice woman,” she said.
Imagine meeting an icon, and your first thought is to interrupt your daughter’s tennis practice so she can meet the celebrity too? She’s clearly a loving mom — and deserves a Mom of the Year Award for that move!

Sara is mom of two daughters, Valentina, 14, and Josephine, 9, who she shares with ex Tommy Haas. In an interview with PEOPLE last month, the Nobody Wants This executive producer shared that her kids don’t think of her as cool.
“My daughter has even said things to me before like, ‘It’s just not fair. It’s just not fair that I don’t have cool parents,’” Sara told the outlet. “I’m like, ‘Your parents are kind of cool!’”
“But her narrative is like, ‘It’s not fair.’ So I don’t know what she’s looking for…” Sara continued. “Maybe if I was on ‘Love Island,’ she would respect me more.”
Hopefully this phone call with Coco Guaff will help her daughter think Sara’s just a little bit cooler, right?
