Tadej Pogacar set a new time record up Mont Ventoux this year at the Tour de France, racing up the Géant de Provence in 54 minutes and 30 seconds. The Colgago Y1Rs bike that he rode up it alongside Jonas Vingegaard is now up for sale in an auction and it has reached the staggering value of €60.000.The bike’s value is estimated at around €15.000, fruit of the bike’s elevated standard value but also all of the small details added in for the riders of UAE Team Emirates – XRG and of course, the specific details added in for the rider who is no less than the Tour de France and World Champion. The bike holds huge value and in an auction by Sothesby, the latest bid has reached €60.000.It is not uncommon for pro bikes to be sold off in auctions, however the value here is extremely high, and in some way justified by its historic value, since this was the very bike that Pogacar rode up several mountain stages at the Tour. It is distinguished by its almost fully black livery, a conscious decision taken by the team in order to save a few grams – instead of the team’s traditional white livery which sits on most of its bikes. CyclingUpToDate was able to see the details of the World Champion’s bike up close last year in Benidorm, before the start of the season and the Slovenian’s first in-race use of it.
