THE Walkinshaw family’s last Holden ties are to be broken with Walkinshaw Andretti United’s last Commodore race cars set to be leaving the team’s Clayton, Melbourne, workshop.
WAU CEO Bruce Stewart told V8 Sleuth this week that the team’s pair of ZB Commodores – driven in this year’s Dunlop Super2 Series by Matt Hillyer and Campbell Logan – are on the market for 2026.
The car raced by Logan this year – chassis WR 031 – was a brand-new build for this year and has only competed in six rounds and 12 races of Super2 competition.
The car raced by Hillyer this year – chassis WR 018 – has had a long life with the team and been raced by a range of well-known names in Supercars including James Courtney, Nick Percat and Lee Holdsworth.
It started its life as a VF Commodore customer chassis for Tony D’Alberto before returning to the Walkinshaw fold.
WR 018 was later converted to ZB specification and was used by IndyCar aces James Hinchcliffe and Alexander Rossi for their wildcard entry at Bathurst in 2019.
Its last ‘main game’ WAU race came via another wildcard entry, in 2022 at Hidden Valley, with now-PremiAir Racing signing Jayden Ojeda at the wheel.

Later in the year the car was leased to Matt Chahda Motorsport and raced at Bathurst in Caltex colours with Chahda and Jaylyn Robotham driving.
“We’re keen to find new homes for these cars,” Stewart told V8 Sleuth this week.
“We’ll include technical data for the right buyer in the deal too. We want to see these chassis find new homes; they are the perfect cars for the Super2 Series.
“The cars are available now and each includes an engine in the package, as well as a commitment to service engines.”
Gen2 cars – including the ZB Commodore and Mustang – will have two more years of competition life in Super2 given the recent decision to introduce Gen3 chassis from 2028.
WAU’s move to Toyota for 2026 will see it solely focus on the Repco Supercars Championship next year with a pair of GR Supras for Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood in addition to its Academy program of GR Cup 86 Toyotas.
The Walkinshaw and Holden history dates back to the formation of Holden Special Vehicles and the Holden Racing Team in the late 1980s.
The former HSV and HRT sites at Clayton have been demolished in recent times to make way for a new business park development.
