Ms O’CONNOR question to MINISTER for SPORT and EVENTS, Mr DUIGAN
It’s our clear understanding that the AFL withheld the news of its decision to walk away from the People First Stadium, fearing the optics ahead of this vote today. You have said that Stadiums Tasmania apparently sought some information from the AFL before providing you with the answer you gave in here yesterday – the answer that fails the pub test.
Will you, as minister responsible for sport and events, make some inquiries, for example, with the AFL itself about why it made the decision to walk away from that stadium? It is our understanding that they have walked away from it because the business case did not stack up for it and that’s making a massive loss for them as this stadium will here, for the people of Tasmania.
ANSWER
Mr President, as I say, I provided an answer to the member. I don’t have any further advice in front of me‑
Ms O’Connor – That wasn’t my question; will you get some more information?
Mr DUIGAN – And I will let the record speak.
