The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team is brimming with determination as they prepare for the second leg of the HSBC SVNS Series in Cape Town this weekend.
Drawn in a highly competitive Pool B, the team faces a rigorous schedule, beginning with a blockbuster clash against the host nation. The Fiji Men’s 7s will take on South Africa at 10.44 pm (Fiji Time) on Saturday evening. They then face Great Britain early Sunday morning at 1.38 am, before completing their pool stage against Argentina at 5.19 am.
Head Coach Osea Kolinisau acknowledged the scale of the challenge, particularly the opening match. He emphasized that his squad has diligently addressed areas for improvement following the first tournament.
“South Africa, especially number one in the World 15s, and they’re playing at home. They’re not going to give up easily,” Kolinisau stated.
“They’re going to throw everything at us, especially on the first game.”
“We’re banking on improving from last week, especially on our defence, getting better in our one-on-one defence and also our discipline. And most of all, our team, making sure that we play as a team and our communication is good.”
With all stakes on the plate, the FIJI Airways Fijian 7s team will surely be out to redeem themselves in Cape Town under the African sun.
