RAF win first Inter Service rugby title at under-23s level for 19 years

The RAF have won the Inter Service title at under-23s level for the first time in 19 years.

A 26-17 win over the Army at Cardiff Arms Park was a brilliant win for the Air Force and rubber-stamped their place at the top of the Forces under-23s rugby mountain.

Their smart decision-making and ruthless kicking were trademarks of the RAF style, who also beat the Navy at Stourbridge last month.

The first half lacked action but both sides went in level at the break thanks to tries from the Army’s Will Sevodi and RAF speedster Jay Smith.

The second half saw Kieran Jenkins dominate the action with ball and boot. He delivered two well-taken penalties and his brilliant try, alongside one for James Moseley, put the RAF into a comfortable position.

The Army, with their physical, driving nature, pushed the RAF until the end with a couple of tries, but this was the RAF’s night in Wales.
