It’s championship Saturday in San Antonio. One world title and two interim titles will be on the line in a card headlined by Lamont Roach Jr. against interim WBC junior welterweight champion Isaac Cruz.
Roach is fighting for the first time since a fight with Gervonta “Tank” Davis, a night where nearly every observer felt Roach had done enough to score a career-changing victory. Instead of having his hand raised, Roach had to settle for a majority draw, with one judge inexplicably seeing the fight for Davis. Roach also scored a clear knockdown in that fight, though the referee opted to not call the knockdown, which would have resulted in Roach getting the victory.
Cruz also gave Davis a tough fight, losing a close 2021 decision. Four fights later, Cruz beat Rolando Romero to capture the WBA junior welterweight championship. Cruz lost the belt one fight later to Jose Valenzuela, but bounced back with a two-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Omar Salcido to win the interim belt he’ll defend on Saturday night.
CBS Sports will be with you throughout the entire way on Saturday, beginning with the start of the main card broadcast at 8 p.m. ET, so be sure to follow along with the live results and highlights below.
