The Knights have officially announced the signing of local junior Pasami Saulo, who returns to the Hunter on a two-year deal.

Saulo, 26, first debuted for Newcastle in 2018, earning the distinction of becoming the 300th player to represent the Knights at NRL level.

A Maitland Pumpkin Pickers and Morpeth Bulls junior, Saulo progressed through the club’s pathways, winning a Harold Matthews Cup title in 2014, and Australian Schoolboys selection in 2016.

After 27 appearances across five seasons with Newcastle, Saulo departed in 2022 to join the Canberra Raiders, where he’s played 31 matches over three campaigns.

Newcastle head of recruitment Peter O’Sullivan praised Saulo’s size, athleticism and pride for the Knights jersey.

“We are so excited to bring Pasami home to where his football career started,” he said.

“Pasami is everything we are looking for to bolster our squad, a big athletic middle forward with a strong presence and powerful ball carry.

“He is Newcastle through and through, we can’t wait to see him back in the Knights red and blue in 2026.”

Saulo, of Samoan and Māori heritage, will join a middle rotation which includes Jacob Saifiti, Mat Croker and Brodie Jones when he reunites with the red and blue in 2026.

The move marks a full-circle moment for the Belmont-born forward, who began his rugby league journey in the Hunter before making his NRL dream a reality.
