The availability of two key Hobart Hurricanes has been clarified ahead of their Round 1 double.

Tim David is currently playing in the ILT20 in the United Arab Emirates with Sharjah Warriorz who face the Gulf Giants on Wednesday night.

David’s stint in the ILT20, which runs until early January, comes after he dominated the Abu Dhabi T10 League, winning the Player of the Tournament.

But any fears of a delayed arrival for the BBL can be erased, with Honeyball confirming that David is due to return to Hobart on Friday following his final game with the Warriorz.

English spinning all-rounder Rehan Ahmed has been out of action since mid-November after returning to the UK following a leg strain playing for the England Lions.

There’s been few updates on Ahmed’s status since he left Australian shoes, although the plan was to recover with a view to playing in the BBL.

Honeyball understands Ahmed will arrive in Australia on Thursday, allowing him to play in Hobart’s season opener on Tuesday 16 December. It remains to be seen if the leg-spinner is fully fit to take his place.
