Bad Bunny took a painful-looking tumble in front of 65,000 fans in Mexico City this week.

The Puerto Rican rapper, 31, was performing his hit single Efecto on-stage at the GNP Seguros Stadium, when he slid on-stage.

Screams turned to gasps as the musician dropped to the ground in a move many high-profile performers have unfortunately suffered in the past.

He slipped backwards during his tumble, landing in a seated position on the floor.

But while many singers usually get back up wthin seconds, Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Ocasio, decided to revel in the moment.

He sat on-stage for a few beats as the crowd continued to scream his lyrics around him, before standing up and raising his hand in the air while everyone sang along.

He’s not the only one to suffer a fall on-stage in recent times, joining the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

The incident comes two months before the musician is set to perform at the Super Bowl Half Time show.

The news was announced earlier this year, with Bad Bunny saying in a statement: “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself

“It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history.

“Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

Roc Nation founder Jay-Z said in a statement that what Bad Bunny has “done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honoured to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”

The move was met with some controversy, considering the fact he’s been vocal in his opposition to President Donald Trump and his policies.

He recently decided to do a 31-day residency in Puerto Rico, avoiding stops in the US over concerns about the mass deportation of Latinos.

Trump said in an interview with Newsmax he had “never heard of” Bad Bunny.

“I don’t know who he is,” Trump said. “I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s, like, crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

The singer has won three Grammys and 12 Latin Grammys.

Kendrick Lamar performed at the most recent Super Bowl in New Orleans, setting the record for the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show with 133.5 million viewers.

His performance surpassed the audience for Michael Jackson’s 1993 show.
