The Chaldean boxer from El Cajon looks to remain unbeaten as a pro with next step-up fight.
EL CAJON, Calif. — Boxer Johnny Mansour is preparing for his biggest challenge yet, facing an opponent with some 25 professional fights—a significant step up from his previous competition.
“This opponent is definitely a step-up opponent. They sent me my original opponent, but I told my promoters and my team, it’s time to step up the competition,” said Mansour.
Mansour, who grew up in San Diego, recently threw the first pitch at a San Diego Padres game, a hometown honor he cherished alongside his community. “I’ve always been a San Diego Padres fan my whole life. I grew up in San Diego. So to be able to throw the first pitch for my hometown team in front of, all my friends and family was great. Â It was also Chaldean night, so we had thousands of Chaldeans there. Â It was beautiful for my whole community to get together,” said Mansour.
Beyond boxing, Mansour has expanded into business ventures. He recently partnered with a water company, with over 10,000 bottles distributed featuring his image. “I partnered with Aquaflo. So if you find these in the store, make sure you take a picture, post it, and tag me. I’m gonna be re-sharing and following you guys. Â But it’s great to see my face on a water bottle. It’s great marketing and it’s good to collaborate with a local brand as well,” said Mansour.
Mansour also recently spent time with boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, whom he views as a significant influence. “It was amazing. Â Manny Pacquiao is a role model of mine. He’s great not only inside the ring but outside the ring, and he’s very, very humble. So it’s cool to surround yourself with guys that are eight-division world champions and are super humble and are leaders in this role. Pacquiao has always been a great role model, and I aspire to be just like him someday,” said Mansour.
Regarding his upcoming fight, Mansour remains confident about the outcome. Â “Well, I keep asking what style? What fashion? Â Am I gonna knock him out? Am I gonna win by decision? All I say is I’m gonna win and the style…. You gotta pay, you gotta pay to watch. You gotta watch and don’t miss this fight because it’s gonna be special. It’s a step-up opponent, and I’m here to step up my game and show y’all they’ve been coming to fight the best in my division,” said Mansour.
The fight is in Los Angeles Saturday night, December 13, live on Pay Per View as part of the Badou Jack vs. Noel Mikaelian 2 undercard. Â It’s hosted by Championing Mental Health (CMH) and available on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, PPV.com, and Fubo, with Mansour facing Marc Antonio Juarez Rodriguez. The event will be held at Ace Mission Studios, it supports mental wellness, featuring Mansour in a co-main event spot on a stacked card.
