Arturo Cardenas has taken over in the second half of this fight, although Cesar Vaca has been game and put on the pressure.
Vaca — knowing he needed a finish — had big success in the first minute of the final frame, hurting Cardenas with a left hook and then a right hand a few seconds later. Cardenas, however, returned the favor, rocking Vaca in the final 20 seconds and closing out strong.
Cardenas has landed the harder punches in the second half of the contest — alongside the knockdown — which should see his hand raised.
Great fight!

It was a very even fight through four rounds between Cardenas and Vaca. Both men were having success at times, with the action picking up in the final minute of Round 4. Vaca was throwing the greater number of shots and pushing the pace, but the quality work and harder punches were coming from Cardenas, including left hooks to the body and right hands upstairs.
Cardenas began the fifth round with a sharp left hand. That jab has been missing from his game for the first four frames, but in the fifth, it was a weapon for him — and he used it to set up his other power shots in the stanza. The fifth was by far the most one-sided, with Cardenas landing combinations upstairs and downstairs. A right-hand counter at the two-minute mark was followed by a left hook seconds later.

Cesar Vaca noticeably has the faster hands in this matchup, and it’s allowing him to get off first with his jab and keep Cardenas guessing. Cardenas landed a couple of nice left hook counters, and the pair traded rights at the end of the second frame, which Cardenas certainly got the better of. Vaca, however, has been much busier and landed the jab on several occasions.

Anthony Hollaway, who didn’t come off his stool for Round 5, didn’t stay on either. He fell off the stool in between rounds in a worrisome moment. The American was laid out in the ring and had to be stretchered out. Hollaway looked to be fatigued rather than hurt.

Cheavon Clarke goes back to winning ways.
After a pair of defeats, former British cruiserweight champion Clarke stops Anthony Hollaway at the end of Round 4 in his second fight stateside — also his second fight with Virgil Hunter.
Clarke was hurt by Hollaway in Round 2. He switched on after that, though. There was more urgency in his work. Clarke used an imposing jab, increased the pressure, and attacked the body.
Hollaway looked in trouble multiple times in Round 4 and was very tired. The corner chose not to send him out for Round 5.

Hollaway landed the most significant punch of fight so far — an overhand right counter at the end of Round 2, which wobbled the legs of Clarke. Luckily for Clarke, he was saved by the bell.

Hollaway is doing a good job of managing distance against Clarke and smothering his attacks at close range. Clarke is unable to land clean punches as a result. Clarke needs to make a better use of his jab, feints and head movement to break the gap and disguise attacks.
