The first new single from Lanarkshire’s Just Joans for a while covers some familiar territory – the dreamer brought down to earth in a harsh environment, in this case the kid who doesn’t want to be on the rugby field but is… tough luck son!

Over a nice set of Blondie-esque riffs (‘Denis’ anyone?) David deftly narrates a traumatic match appearance – “Please don’t pass it to me, I’m doing just fine where I am…”, with further moans that “I only came ‘cos they said there’d be Mars Bars…”

There’s also a great chorus – “babababa, here come the rugby boys” to sing along to in that communal post-match shower, lads…
