Australian Olympian Alex Ferlazzo has stunned spectators after managing to cling onto his luge and recover his run after falling off halfway through a slide.
The 30-year-old from Townsville was competing in a World Cup event in Park City, US, ahead of February’s Winter Olympics when he hit a wall and was flipped off his luge.
Ferlazzo managed to hold onto his sled despite the fall, keeping grasp of it even after smashing into a wall for a second time.
As he started to slow down into a straight run of the track, Ferlazzo managed to lift himself back onto the luge and finish his run.
“Tough one yesterday. Still managed to finish I guess,” Ferlazzo said on his Instagram account.
“Lake Placid next weekend.”
Ferlazzo said two weeks ago that he was thrilled to be in Italy as his chased Olympic dream.
“I’m so excited to be racing here in Cortina. There’s just over two months until the games and the atmosphere is electric,” he said.
“I’m starting to get a feel for the new track and can’t wait for the Olympic qualifier event this weekend.”
