El Grotto is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month by relaunching the Scarborough bar’s tequila and food menu and live music program.

The coastal icon also celebrated with a three-day birthday weekend earlier this month that brought together old friends and new favourites.

Original DJs provided the tunes, former bartenders jumped back behind the bar, a Latin-themed dancefloor kicked off, and a recovery Sunday session was hosted by Perth DJs Charlie Bucket, Troy Division and Good Fortune.

Co-founder James Pedlow said it was difficult to put 10 years into words.

“El Grotto has always been about the people: the bartenders, the DJs, the producers, the locals and the mates who’ve filled the place with energy week after week.

“(The weekend was) just a chance to say thanks and have a drink together.”

The milestone celebration also marks a shift back to El Grotto’s roots — its agave heart — by relaunching the tequila menu with a renewed sense of purpose and rare bottles that tell a story.

To complement the shift, the kitchen will launch fresh food items for the summer and re-energise its music program.
