2026 NFNL Senior Men’s Fixture Released

The 2026 fixtures for the NFNL Senior Men’s competitions have been released.
The Senior Men’s season will start with a split round 1 to accommodate some marquee Good Friday matches. All other round 1 matches will commence on Saturday 11 April.
Melbourne Greyhounds Division 1 and MC Labour Division 2 will play out 18 home and away games, with every side to play each opponent twice. In Heidelberg Golf Club Division 3, there will be also 18 home and away games in season 2026, but clubs will play 16 matches and have two byes each. All teams will play each opponent at least once.
All divisions will be significantly impacted by various facility upgrades throughout the season that have effected clubs ability to access their home grounds throughout the season.
Melbourne Greyhounds Division 1 will feature 10 sides, with Diamond Creek returning to Division 1 following a dominant display in the 2025 MC Labour Division 2 Grand Final.
2026 will again see a top five finals campaign at the conclusion of the regular season, with finals to commence on Saturday, August 29th and the Grand Final to be played on Saturday, September 19th.
Following their first premiership in 35 years Fitzroy will be competing as one of the 10 sides in the MC Labour Division 2 competition in 2026. Whilst South Morang will return to Division 2.
The top five sides in MC Labour Division 2 will compete in the finals, which will begin on Saturday, August 22nd and conclude with the Grand Final on Saturday, September 12th.
There will be 11 teams in Heidelberg Golf Club Division 3 with Watsonia returning to Division 3 after a decade.
Finals will begin for the top five sides on Saturday, August 15th, with the Grand Final set to take place on Saturday, September 5th.
Key features of the 2026 NFNL senior men’s football fixtures include:
· Round 1 will be a split round with Greensborough hosting Eltham in Division 1 and Reservoir hosting Lalor in Division 3 on Good Friday before all other games commence on Saturday 11 April.
· Diamond Creek will be set to unveil their 2025 premiership flag in round 1 with Heidelberg and Fitzroy scheduled to unveil their in Round 2
· Montmorency will play the first 4 rounds away with the scheduled upgrades to the facilities set to impact access. They will return to Montmorency Oval in Round 5 against Banyule
· North Heidelberg will look to make the most of their first 3 rounds at home before Shelley Park upgrades commence.
· Kinglake will also be impacted by facility upgrades. With the exact dates of the Kinglake Memorial Oval upgrades still being confirmed Kinglake will at least play Round 1 there.
· ANZAC Day falls on a Saturday this season so there may be adjustments to regular match times to accommodate government restrictions on ticketed matches.
· Round 8 will see the Division 1 Grand Final replay with Heidelberg hosting Hurstbridge at Warringal Park
· Division 3 will be on showcase over the Kings Birthday weekend, whilst Eltham will host Diamond Creek as the standalone Division 1 match.
· Lower Plenty will host St Mary’s for the 2026 Pat Cronin Foundation Round.
· NAIDOC will be celebrated over two weeks due to the mid-year bye affecting Division 1, Senior women and Juniors
· Fitzroy will be centre stage during both weeks of NAIDOC celebrations as they compete against Thomastown on July 4th and Whittlesea on July 11th at Sir Douglas Nicholls Oval.
· Excitingly we also have two clubs celebrating major milestones, with Heidelberg celebrating 150 years and Panton Hill marking 100 years – congratulations to both clubs!
