An icy, snowy, tundra-like Monday in L-L League girls basketball circles. In fact, two games were postponed. That included the much-anticipated Section 3 showdown pitting undefeated Manheim Central at Lancaster Catholic. That game is now slated for Jan. 2. Here is Monday’s roundup, plus some notables:
SECTION 2
Warwick 64, Conestoga Valley 53 — A statement win for the host Warriors, who made their 29-23 halftime lead stand up, and hand the Buckskins — one of the preseason favorites in the section hunt — their second straight league setback. Grace Myers poured in a career-high 22 points and Mia Warfel drained three 3-pointers and scored 16 points for Warwick, which is with Ephrata and Cocalico in the lead pack. Kaylana Davis and Zay Washington scored 11 points apiece for CV, which is now looking up at the leaders.Â
Ephrata 54, Garden Spot 25 — The Mountaineers continued their torrid stretch, opening the game on a 33-6 tear — including a 17-2 second-quarter blitz — on the way to their fourth win in a row. Jazzlin Sanders matched her career-high with 13 points and Leah Caldwell chipped in with 10 points to pace Ephrata’s balanced attack. Laina Steiner popped in 13 points for the host Spartans, who are now out to snap a 3-game slide after a 2-0 getaway.Â
SECTION 3
Northern Lebanon 44, Donegal 11 — The host Vikings were up 22-7 at the half, and then opened up plenty of breathing room with a 16-0 third-quarter spree. Kasey Weimer scored 13 points and Hayley Sheroky added 12 points for Northern Lebanon, which kept pace in what is shaping up to be a whale of a section race. Hannah Mumper scored 7 points for the Indians. FYI: Weimer (811) joined the 800-point club and Sheroky (711) joined the 700-point club, as those seniors angle to reach 1,000 career points.Â
NONLEAGUE
Annville-Cleona 42, Lancaster County Christian 12 — The Dutchmen sprinted to a 10-0 first-quarter lead and built a 22-4 lead at the break, and then used an 11-2 third-quarter spurt to seal the deal and earn a road win. Addison Sanchez (season-high 12 points) and Savannah Kleinfelter (season-high 11 points) keyed A-C, which won its third game in a row after a 0-2 start.Â
Cocalico 50, Exeter 47 — Eagles vs. Eagles, and host Cocalico outscored Exeter 29-26 in the second half to eke out its fifth victory in a row. Kira Lehman (18 points), Corinne Fair (four 3-pointers, 14 points) and Izzy Rios (season-high 11 points) paced Cocalico, which was deadlocked 21-21 at the half, and trailed 37-36 heading into the fourth quarter. FYI: Fair now leads the L-L with 21 treys; she has 14 3-pointers in her last three games.Â
Also Monday, Lampeter-Strasburg kept chugging right along, making some big shots in the pivotal second half on the way to handing Elco its first loss this season. Here’s the story from Lampeter:Â

* Columbia and Pequea Valley — who have took turns dominating Section 4 the last couple of years — renew pleasantries in Kinzers in PV’s new gym digs. Winner there gets a leg-up in the race. … Fun nonleague matchup when undefeated Manheim Central hosts Cocalico, which will bring its 5-game winning streak to town; Barons eliminated the Eagles in the first round of the D3-5A playoffs last February. … Elco and Conestoga Valley will be right back at it 24 hours later in nonleague games, coming off section setbacks on Monday night. … Former Section 4 rivals — Mennonite and Linden Hall — will collide in Lititz. Only this time, it’s a nonleague game; the Lions opted out of the L-L earlier this year. … All the 1-0 Section 1 teams (Cedar Crest, Township, Lebanon) face off against the 0-1 Section 1 teams (McCaskey, Hempfield, Penn Manor), so we’ll see if there’s any separation.Â
