Masters riders from across the United States traveled to Roubaix, France, for the 2025 UCI Masters Track World Championships October 4-11, racing a full schedule of sprint and endurance events.
Many of the riders first came together at a two-day Masters World Championship Preparation Camp at the Colorado Springs Velodrome September 13-14, where they worked on starts, pacing, and race efforts under Worlds-style conditions before heading to Europe.
Throughout the week, Team USA lined up in time trials, pursuits, bunch races and sprint events on the fast 250-meter Stab Vélodrome track. Masters athletes moved through qualifying rounds and finals, testing themselves against deep international fields in every session.
Team USA wrapped up the Masters Track World Championships with 18 world titles, 11 silver medals, and nine bronze medals across individual and team events. Monique Snieders (Mission Viejo, Calif.; Velo Club La Grange) led the charge with four golds in the Women’s 50-54, including victories in the individual pursuit and 500 meter time trial, highlighting a standout week for the master athletes.
“Coming into Roubaix, I had this dream of winning every event I entered at a World Championship, but I wasn’t sure it was realistic with everything life throws at you,” Said Snieders. “In the months leading up to Worlds, I recommitted to training, leaned on my coach BJ Olsen to sharpen my start and lap times, and reminded myself that the biggest limits are often in your mind. In the points race and the 2000 meters, I refused to listen to that voice saying I could not hold on, broke through it, and it helped me deliver four gold medals and set two personal bests.”
The masters team’s path from the camp in Colorado Springs to the start line in France shows how committed these riders are to track racing. They now bring that experience back to their local velodromes, where they continue to race and support the sport at home.
