The prize will be given to the winner of the top Dark Horse category, with the test taking place at Queensland Raceway.
Announced in June, Mustang Cup Australia is the second regional one-make cup series for the Mustang Dark Horse R, following on from the North American championship which was launched this season.
13-time Supercars teams’ champion Triple Eight made waves in Australian motorsport earlier this year, when it announced it would switch from Chevrolet to Ford machinery from 2026, becoming the latter’s homologation team.
“The introduction of the Mustang Cup to Australia is very exciting,” said Triple Eight Team Principal Jamie Whincup.
“More opportunities for younger drivers is a good thing for motorsport in this country, and there’s no doubt that it has the potential to unlock the next star of our sport.
“Whether you’re Triple Eight or another team you want to be the first to discover the next Broc [Feeney] or Will [Brown, Triple Eight’s current Supercars drivers], and the Mustang Cup is going to be another place to find that driver who has the qualities to succeed at the top level.
“We’re pleased to offer the winner of the Mustang Cup a test day behind the wheel of a Supercar to give them a taste of what could be next for them.”
Series organiser Liam Curkpatrick added: “What a fantastic opportunity for our teams and drivers to strive for, the winner of Mustang Cup Australia testing a Triple Eight Supercar with the champion team. It really is the ultimate prize.”
The 2026 Mustang Cup Australia season begins at Phillip Island on 27th to 29th March 2026, as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries package which also features GT World Challenge Australia and GT4 Australia.
