Brisbane has extended Ty Gallop for a further two years beyond his current deal, while Melbourne’s Jake Bowey has been locked away until the end of 2028.
Gallop burst onto the scene in 2025 after he was taken with Pick 42, playing six games, including all four finals and the premiership victory over Geelong.
The 19-year-old joins a chorus of Lions who have penned new deals, including the Ashcroft brothers, Darcy Wilmot and Jaspa Fletcher.
“It feels great to extend for a couple of extra years, and it wasn’t a very hard decision at all because I have loved the time I’ve spent at the club so far,” Gallop said.
“The club culture we have here and the close relationships I’ve built in my first year were two key reasons for me wanting to extend.

“I love the way the boys go about it, and I am excited to be part of a winning side with a great group of people.
“My debut season was a big one, and I’m very grateful to be part of a premiership side in my first year, which is a huge honour. Hopefully, we can experience it again.”
Bowey has emerged as one of the Demons’ best distributors across half back since he was drafted in 2020.
Like Gallop, the 23-year-old won a premiership in his first season after forcing his way into the senior side.
Bowey featured in the final seven games of the 2021 season, including the drought-breaking flag against the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium.
The 23-year-old is expected to miss the majority of 2026 after suffering a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, which requires surgery.
“Jake is developing into a key part of our backline, and is a real asset for us,” Tim Lamb, Melbourne AFL List manager, said.Â

“His ability to win contests, competitive drive, and the way he continues to strive to improve his game are all qualities that he exemplifies within our team.Â
“Although Jake has unfortunately suffered a recent injury setback, we are confident that he will approach his rehab with his customary professionalism, and we look forward to having him as a core part of our program in the years to come.”
Both Bowey (2021) and Gallop (2025) joined an exclusive club of premiership players in their debut season.
