Garmin has delivered a milestone build for older smartwatches like the Fenix 7. Finally moving on v23.xx development after five months of updates, Beta Version 25.03 brings numerous changes to the table with over a dozen bug fixes and other updates.

For reference, Software Version 23.48 marks the end of v23.xx beta development too, which started in July with Beta Version 23.05. Now, Garmin has returned with a new beta build that brings even more bug fixes to the table. Specifically, Garmin has rolled out v25.03 to its public Beta Program, the enrollment procedure for which can be found in an accompanying Garmin support page.

In a forum post, Garmin clarifies that Beta Version 25.03 introduces sixteen changes from Software Version 23.48. On the one hand, it claims to have updated the Garmin activity so that one can now disable or enable the auto-lap feature. Additionally, Beta Version 25.03 refines the progress bar on the Audiobooks list.

On the other hand, the new beta addresses fourteen outstanding bugs. As the list below shows, four of these relate to issues that could cause the Fenix 7 and associated smartwatches to shut down unexpectedly. Beta Version 25.03 is likely the first in a series of v25.xx updates that Garmin will test on its Beta Program over the next few months. Thus, it seems unlikely that a corresponding stable update will arrive before early 2026. The full list of changes that Beta Version 25.03 contains is as follows:
