Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha has made his frustration clear after the team dropped more points at home.

Bruno Fernandes was frustrated as he left the pitch at Old Trafford following Manchester United’s 4-4 draw with Bournemouth.

This was Manchester United’s best home attacking performance of the season, with four goals scored.

From that perspective it was the perfect tonic to matches against Everton and West Ham, where United netted only once in 180 minutes.

Unfortunately, United’s worst defensive performance of the season was served up too. United conceded four, and it could quite easily have been more.

Matheus Cunha was voted as the man of the match, in a poll via United In Focus readers, edging out competition from Bruno Fernandes.

Matheus Cunha’s post-game message

Matheus Cunha posted a message to his Instagram feed in the wake of the dramatic eight-goal thriller at Old Trafford.

Cunha’s message was for the fans, writing: “We wanted more, you deserved more.”

The Brazilian scored Manchester United’s fourth goal in the draw, the one that put the Red Devils 4-3 up.

It was a fantastic moment, just Cunha’s second goal at the club, and his first at the Stretford End.

Bournemouth went on to equalise five minutes later to make the score 4-4. Both teams were desperate to find a winner, and while there was substantial stoppage time played, a draw was probably a fair result.

Despite this, Cunha’s message reflected how the Manchester United players felt about the dramatic game.

This was a winnable match, one that the team really should have closed out, after leading three times.

Cunha must build on encouraging display

Matheus Cunha’s performance was his best all-round display since joining the club, and he was really unlucky not to register an assist in addition to his goal.

Cunha did provide an assist in the win over his former club Wolves, and he is coming into form at a time where United need him to.

Benjamin Sesko’s return will be helpful too, but all eyes will be on Cunha in United’s attack, with Bryan Mbeumo and Amad set to be absent at the AFCON.

A really tough game awaits against a more defensively resilient Aston Villa, and an away win would be a huge statement.
