New AI models are getting better at deep reasoning and producing more nuanced and accurate results. AI features are being added to more applications integrated across digital ecosystems. Companies are also releasing new AI functionalities such as AI agents.
Companies are spending a lot of money in infrastructure and technology to support more AI development and meet future demand. While these developments may be good for Australian consumers and businesses, there are also several emerging risks for consumers and competition.
We will keep monitoring AI developments and we will take action under the Competition and Consumer Act where appropriate.
