Angus Clarke signs two-year contract extension.
Essendon Football Club is excited to announce Angus Clarke has signed a two-year contract extension, committing his future to the Club until at least the end of the 2028 season.
Drafted with pick No. 39 in last year’s National Draft, Clarke has quickly made his mark at the Club with his work ethic, determination, and tough country roots, establishing himself as a reliable and competitive performer.
Clarke’s memorable AFL debut earned him Essendon’s third Telstra Rising Star nomination for the 2025 season. The 18-year-old lit up the MCG with 16 disposals and three first-half goals in Dreamtime at the ‘G, proving instrumental in the win.
Clarke went on to play 14 games for the 2025 AFL season and is eager to play plenty more in front of the Bomber faithful.
“When I got the news about the contract extension, I was just so excited. To play for the Bombers and be rewarded for all the hard work my family and I have put into my footy is something I am incredibly grateful for,” Clarke said.
“Under the coaching of Brad and with all the young boys coming through, there is just so much upside to our game, and I am really excited for what the future holds.
“In 2026 I want to cement my spot in the side and do everything I can to help the team succeed. I’m pumped to have the Bomber fans supporting us along the way.”
Essendon’s General Manager of List & Recruiting, Matt Rosa, is proud of the growth and development Clarke has shown during the 2025 season.
“Angus has taken significant steps forward this season. His competitiveness, team first mindset and consistency have really stood out,” Rosa said.
“This contract extension for Angus is great reward for the improvement he has shown in his short time at the club and the way he has attacked getting better everyday”.
“From Angus playing in his debut game, to his Rising Star nomination backed up by a consistent 2025 campaign, it’s all made us extremely excited for what he will continue to achieve for this Club in the coming years.”
