Bryan Mewbourn Basketball Tournament

BEN WHEELER — The Brook Hill Guard will play Caddo Mills in the third-place game of the Bryan Mewbourn Basketball Tournament on Saturday at O’Neal Weaver Gymnasium.
The Guard (17-4) and the Foxes (11-5) are scheduled to tipoff at 3:20 p.m. Host Martin’s Mill (11-3) will play Tyler HEAT (15-5) in the championship game at 4:40 p.m. Saturday.
Martin’s Mill defeated Brook Hill 34-31 in the semifinals and Tyler HEAT won over Caddo Mills 52-45 in the other semifinal.
Archer Schneider led Martin’s Mill with 21 points against the Guard. Ryder Marsh (8), Travis Baber (4) and Cooper Wright (1) added points.
In the loss to the Mustangs, Brook Hill was led by Majus Afanasjev’s 11 points. He was followed by Tyler Sitton (7), Roy Rudzinskas (5), Holt Robertson (5) and Heath Miller (3).
Afanasjev hit three 3-pointers with one each from Miller, Sitton, Rudzinskas and Robertson.
Brook Hill defeated Mabank 53-46 on Thursday by outscoring the Panthers 20-10 in the fourth quarter.
Rudzinskas led the Guard with 24 points, followed by Miller (13), Robertson (7), Afanasjev (5) and Caden Swelling (2). Miller had three 3-pointers with Afanasjev hitting one.
Carter Sims led Mabank with 20 points, followed by Luke Carter (19), Jayden Colin (5) and Angel Guerrero (2). Sims had four 3-pointers with Carter adding two.
In the quarterfinals, Brook Hill won over Scurry-Rosser 65-21 on Thursday.
Hitting in double figures were Miller (22), Rudzinskas (16) and Afanasjev (10). Others scoring were Marcu Visser (7), Robertson (6) and Pietro Victorelli (4).
Miller hit four 3-pointers with two each by Afanasjev (2) and Robertson (2). Visser had one trey.
Eli Hutchins led Wildcats with 11 points, followed by Drew Jestis (6), Barrett McIver (3) and Landon Draper (1).Hitting 3-pointers were Hutchins (3), Jestis (2) and McIver (1).
