As the cyclocross season winds down, USA Cycling is proud to highlight the remarkable progress of one of our Community Impact grant recipients, the Blackstone Bicycle Works Youth Cyclocross Race Team. This fall brought major growth and new experiences for the riders who trained and competed under the program.
After a productive summer of cyclocross activity, the Blackstone riders entered the fall season motivated and well prepared. Throughout weekly practices, they focused on refining foundational cyclocross skills such as bike handling, dismounts, and cornering. Coaches reported visible improvement each week as athletes built confidence and sharpened their technique.
This season, the team competed at The Forge Lemont Quarries, gaining valuable race-day experience. The riders were also scheduled to race in Wheeling, and planned to wrap up their season at the Montrose Beach Illinois State Championship. These events give youth athletes a chance to test their skills, learn from real race conditions, and enjoy the teamwork and excitement that make cyclocross unique.
