It started out as the PNC Father Son Challenge in 1995, with the pros bringing along one of their kids. In 2017, pro golfers started playing alongside their fathers. In 2019, Annika Sorenstam became the first female champion to compete. Then in 2020, the event took on its current name, the PNC Championship.
The fun, family event features 20 teams, each featuring a pro golfer who won a major and/or the Players Championship teaming up with a family member. In 2025, there are fathers, sons, daughters and a stepson competing.

Matt Kuchar and his son, Cameron, are putting Ritz-Carlton GC to shame. They’ve made 10 birdies in their first 11 holes and have taken the outright lead as of 2:35 p.m. ET. Team Love and Team Daly are T-2 at 9 under.
Nick Price and Greg Price are still holding onto the solo lead as they come down the home stretch on day one. Team Price is 8 under through 14 holes as of 1:45 p.m. ET and lead by one over a congested leaderboard.
There’s a four-way tie for second at 7 under: Team Daly, Team Love, Team Stricker and Team Kuchar.
Justin Leonard and his 19-year-old son Luke are 5 under through seven holes as 12:50 p.m. ET, in a tie for second with Davis Love III and his son, Dru. Luke Leonard was occupied earlier this week but still managed to make it down to Orlando to team up with his dad:

The team of Nick Price and his son, Greg, are cruising right along to open up the first round of the PNC Championship. The duo fired a 6-under 30 on the front nine at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and made the turn with a one-shot lead just after 12:30 p.m. ET. Justin Leonard and his son, Luke, and the team of Davis Love III and his son, Dru, are tied for second at 5 under.

Who’s playing in the 2025 PNC Championship?
Lee Trevino is the only player who has been in the field for every edition of the event. Gary Player, a long-time participant, will not be playing this time around. And Tiger Woods, who has teamed up with son Charlie to form the must-see duo on this event, is also not playing.
Who is? The 40-person field contains eight former world No. 1s and six past champions, including reigning champion and record six-time winner, Bernhard Langer. The 20 professionals have won more than 40 major titles and more than 900 international titles.

On each hole, each player drives and the best drive is selected. Each player then plays a second shot from the spot where the selected drive lies, and the best second shot is selected. This process is repeated until the hole is completed.
Where is the PNC Championship?
