The proposed bike track will be south of the glass church, by the entrance to Coronation Park

The Government of Jersey is inviting bids for the design of a new cycling pump track next to Coronation Park.

The tender describes the project as intended to serve bikes and all wheeled sports, with bidding open to local designers, as well as those in France and the UK, until the end of January.

It follows a consultation on the future of Coronation Park, after land at Millbrook Playing Fields was gifted to islanders in 2022 by an anonymous donor.

A cycling pump track is a small looping route with bumps and turns that people can ride on with bikes, skateboards, scooters or rollerblades.

There have been questions about the future of Coronation Park ever since land at Millbrook Playing Fields was gifted to islanders.

A consultation opened later that year to see what islanders wanted the site to be used for, and responses included play areas, a maze, a tunnel, a flower garden and a zip wire.

Since then, there has been no formal announcement of any plans for the land, though an Infrastructure spokesperson has confirmed that a formal planning application is due in the coming weeks.
