They say something’s gotta give, and something finally gave. Nancy Meyers says she will begin shooting a new movie in May. At a screening for Father of the Bride in Los Angeles December 20, Meyers confirmed that the upcoming proj is for theaters and not streaming. She also said Kieran Culkin will star.

Last we’d heard, Meyers had written a semi-autobiographical rom-com called Paris Paramount. She’d originally written it for Netflix, but they did not want to give her the budget she needed. Netflix had greenlit the film for $130 million, CAA asked for $150 mil on Meyers’ behalf, Netflix said nah. And there things have stood since 2023. Meyers did not address whether her upcoming shoot was for Paris Paramount, but she had been shopping it around since parting ways with Netflix.

Meyers posted about Paris Paramount back in 2023, saying the title comes from something Ernst Lubitsch said about preferring Paris, Paramount to Paris, France. “The movie is about a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do,” she wrote on Instagram. Two years ago, the film was set to star Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Penélope Cruz, and Michael Fassbender. You’ll note none of those people are Kieran Culkin.
