North Queensland Cowboys boss Todd Payten has revealed his side’s schedule for their week in Las Vegas, with one of their on-field sessions seeing them take on Hull KR.
The Cowboys, who earlier in the off-season added former St Helens boss Paul Wellens to their coaching ranks, will take on Newcastle Knights in one of the three games across the event, with KR facing Leeds Rhinos and Canterbury Bulldogs meeting St George Illawarra Dragons.
Payten confirmed his side will fly out one week before the event, and will allow his players to have some downtime in the Sin City before preparations get underway.
As part of their pre-match plans, one of the days will see them link with Willie Peters’ Robins for an opposed training session, much like the Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants did earlier this week whilst in Tenerife.
The Cowboys and Hull KR have been in partnership over the past few months, with both sides developing on-and-off the field because of it. The mutual scrimmage will form part as one of the benefits of the agreement.

Hull KR to hold training session with NRL side
Confirming his plans in an interview with media down under, Payten said: “I spoke to a couple of coaches that went in the past couple of years.
“The three guys I spoke to all did something different, but I think we can’t shy away from the bright lights of Vegas.
“We need to get there early, get that out of the road, and knuckle down to business. We are there to perform.
“It will be a great experience for our whole club. Whether you are a supporter, staff member or player going over there. The teams that have gone the last couple years, the feedback and conversations I have had, if it is handled the right way, it can be a great experience for your club. That is the way we’re going to attack it.”
That session won’t be the first meeting with an NRL side the Robins have that month, with KR taking on Brisbane Broncos in the World Club Challenge two weeks before the Las Vegas showdown.
